Published by Mike Browne January 21, 2010

Top Ten Free Nokia X6 Apps The Nokia X6 is a fantastic music phone that comes with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, 32GB of internal memory and even a 5-Megapixel camera. It even comes loaded with all the latest apps, such as Ovi Maps, Facebook and YouTube but if you’re looking to make even more of this handset, then getting ahold of the latest apps for free is a must. Check out our top ten free Nokia X6 and see what’s up for grabs…

We had great fun reviewing the Nokia X6, as this has to be one of the best looking touchscreen devices around and as the flagship device in the new X Series of music phones comes packed with everything you’d expect from a high-end Nokia device.

With that in mind, check out what we think are the ten best free apps for the Nokia X6 right now.

Ovi Maps Beta for Mobile

Whether you’re new to a city or just looking for a better way to get from A to B, this app helps you plan a route or a full trip. You can plan for a route on foot or by car. With Ovi Maps you can find your current location, spot Points Of Interest and even save new favourite spots.

Nokia Photo Browser

Nokia Photo Browser is unlike any other photo album app out there, as you can view images in a number of ways. It’s a neat little app that makes the most of your touchscreen, allowing you to tap on images and even zoom in on areas for a closer inspection. Check out out full review of Nokia Photo Browser.

Opera Mini Web Browser

If you’re looking for a smoother web experience then Opera Mini is a great place to start. We’ve not tried it out on the Nokia X6 but this version works well on the Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 Mini, which use the same Symbian S60 OS, so it should work fine.

Nokia Messaging For Social Networks

Need to get your daily fix of Twitter and Facebook, then this neat little Beta Labs app brings all your social networking together in one handy widget. This touch-sensitive app is perfect for the Nokia X6 as it allows for Profile updates and integrates with Ovi Maps and your GPS.

The Nokia X6 is a great music phone, thanks to Comes With Music and the 32GB of storage. However, what about new music from the website, which lets you stream audio for free. You can create playlists, choose music similar to artists you like – a great way to discover new music – and generally enjoy music on the move.

While we’re thinking of all things social networking, Fring is one of the more feature rich apps for the Nokia X6 as it allows you to stay in touch with friends using your Nokia’s internet connection. It’ll allow you to integrate other apps, like Twitter, Facebook, Google Talk, and even and view them all from the same interface.

Google Maps

Google Maps for Symbian devices is one of those services even the casual person about town needs. It mirrors the functionality of the desktop version, so you can search for a location and be given the best directions on how to get there. What’s more, you can even get the most recent information on where you’re going, making this indispensable.

With the Nokia X6 sporting a 5-Megapixel camera and video capture, you’ll be able to make full use of this amazing free app that lets you share live video direct from your handset to the internet at the simple click of a button. It’s one of our favourite apps of 2009 and looks like being just as popular in 2010.  Head over to our full Qik review for a more in-depth look.

Flight Info

This is a must for frequent fliers. This self-explanatory app helps keep you bang up to date with flight information: just tap in your airline code and flight number and you’ll be instantly given terminal, departure and arrival details.

Pixelpipe allows you to connect Nokia Share Online to almost 100 other social web services. In other words, it means you can upload your photos, videos and audio files to whichever photo service, blogging platform or social network you like: the likes of Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and WordPress are all supported.
