As we count the days until we see the first Nokia Windows Phones next week, we’ve been taking a daily look at all the great features we’ll soon be enjoying from Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Today we’ve looked at the new Parental Controls to see just what they will offer you on a Nokia Windows Phone.
With so many high-quality games available for Windows Phones, some of them are inevitably targeted at more mature gamers and not suitable for younger children. Well, with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango’s Parental Control feature, you can now easily restrict your children’s access to these games.
As long as you ensure that your child has their correct age set alongside their Windows Live ID, then it’s easy to restrict access to M-rated (or ‘Mature’) games on a Nokia Windows Phone. By setting restrictions in their Live ID account, the same limitations will automatically filter down to their phone.
Once you have implemented parental controls and tied them to your child’s Live ID, you can then access the controls from Microsoft’s Zune software; from Zune.net and Xbox.com; and even from their Xbox 360, making it easier than ever to keep them safe from unsuitable content while you’re not around.
When parental controls are in place and your child tries to download an M-rated game on their Nokia Windows Phone, they’ll be instantly greeted with a message telling them that they cannot proceed. All access to the game they were trying to play is then blocked and they can go no further.
Bringing a much requested feature to Windows Phone, Parental Controls in Windows Phone 7.5 Mango makes Nokia Windows Phones the perfect choice for the whole family.
We’ll be bringing you more new guides each day to all the great features that will soon be coming to Nokia Windows Phones courtesy of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, so stay tuned and let us know if there are any features in particular that you’d like to know more about.
