Nokia 808 PureView Hard Cover (CC-3046) hands-on

The Nokia 808 PureView has landed with its 41-Megapixel PureView camera, 4-inch touchscreen and Nokia Belle operating system. If you’re in the mood to look after your investment with a carry case, may we introduce you to the rather nifty Hard Cover (CC-3046) carry case. Check out out as part of our Nokia 808 PureView hands-on.

The Nokia 808 PureView arrived last week and along with the phone itself, Nokia sent along it first official carry case in the form of the Hard Cover CC-3046. Now the first thing to know about this carry case is that it’s not really a hard cover at all, it’s more a thick rubber jacket to protect the phone from knocks and dints.

However, what it does offer is a porthole cover for the large sensor housing on the Nokia 808 PureView, so if you’re been worried about it getting potentially damaged then this is the purchase for you.

The rubber jacket easily slips over the back half of the Nokia 808 PureView and adds quite a large lip to the front of the phone, so you can lay it down without the screen touching any surfaces we’re thinking.

There is a large gap for the audio, USB and HDMI ports on the top of the Nokia 808 PureView, and you’ll find two tiny gaps for the ports on the base of the device. On the side, the Capture button and Volume controls are covered but you will find molded buttons that in no way interfere with operating your Nokia 808 PureView.

As you would expect, the Screenlock button has a cut out so you can access this.

On the back of the Nokia 808 PureView Hard Cover you’ll find there is a snug fitting cut-out for the camera sensor and attached by a tough piece of cotton is the lens gap. This is quite flexible, so you fold it over the lens and clip it into place to create a snug and tight fitting closure.

The Nokia 808 PureView Hard Cover does add to the bulk of the smartphone itself and certainly make sit feel more like a camera than a phone but t does add a reassuring level of security to the device.

The Hard Cove doesn’t seem to be widely stocked just yet but we’ve found it at a couple of places online for a little over £12, from H-Online and Skinflint who we have a cunning feeling may be the same firm!
