HERE Maps is the new name for Nokia Maps as announced at Mobile World Congress 2013. It’s the only true offline mapping solution that loads instantly even without a data connection. Check out our HERE Maps hands-on for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8.
HERE is the new family of interconnected location apps from Nokia. Previously known as Nokia Maps, you’ll find that HERE Maps is rolling out as version 184.108.40.206 – it started shortly after the announcement at Mobile World Congress 2013 and has already appeared on our Nokia Lumia 620.
Crank open HERE Maps version 220.127.116.11 and you’ll find the new logo and start page but the app itself is pretty much unchanged, with the same layout and features, just with the new branding.
This means the key features of HERE Maps are still in place allowing you to navigate offline in 94 countries. You can download true offline maps to your Nokia Lumia smartphone, as well as an increasing number of Windows Phone 8 devices form rival companies, and get turn-by-turn navigation.
You to discover the top 25 places around you, including photos and reviews, wherever possible. You can save paces and access them on any HERE app, which is where interconnection between Maps, Drive and Transit occurs, as well as access real-time traffic information.
You can explore floor-to-floor in airports, stations, stadiums and other such venues in a range of 45 countries right now but growing all the time. Fancy sharing places and routes with others, or simply pinning your favourites to the Start screen? All is possible with HERE Maps.
