Note that you’ll only be able to transfer music without DRM (digital rights management) protecting it, but that shouldn’t be the case for most of your music.

Windows 7 and Windows 8

As you’d expect, Microsoft has made its latest mobile and desktop operating systems work flawlessly together – even when it comes to transferring music from a non-Microsoft service. Simply download the Windows Phone app for desktop to your Windows computer and ensure that your Nokia Lumia 520 is connected. Now click on Settings within the app and navigate to Sync music, videos and more from. Select iTunes and you’re away.

Windows Vista and Windows XP

If you’re using one of the older versions of Windows, don’t worry. There’s an easy way to put your iTunes music onto your Nokia Lumia 520. Just boot up Windows Explorer (which is called File Explorer on some computers), connect your Lumia 520, and either copy and paste or drag and drop your music files from the iTunes folder to your phone.

Running a Mac? Just open up the App Store and download the Windows Phone app for Mac. Open it and hook up your Nokia Lumia 520, and it should be recognised in the app. Now you can hit the Music tab and select which iTunes music you want to copy across, followed by the Sync button.
