Syncing your photos to your Nokia Lumia 520 is extremely easy, with a variety of ways to share your images and videos across multiple devices through apps and cloud services. Sometimes, though, you need to plug in and get to your media the old fashioned way.
With the integration of SkyDrive on your Nokia Lumia 520 with Windows Phone 8, it’s a small matter to pull in pictures and videos stored in the cloud with minimal effort. But what about those older items stored on your PC or Mac?
It’s still extremely easy to hook your Nokia Lumia 520 up directly to your computer and pull across your content. Just follow our guidance and you won’t go far wrong.
Windows 7 and Windows 8
Microsoft’s major operating systems work very well together, which means that you can have a super-smooth image and video-syncing experience with your Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia Lumia 520. Just download the Windows Phone app for desktop to your computer and plug in your phone.
Now, in the app, click on Photos and make sure that the Sync photos option is checked (you can also opt to Include your videos here). Now you can select any folders you want to sync, or just select the Sync all photos check box. Now hit Sync.
Videos can be accessed separately from their own root menu on the Windows Phone app for desktop.
Windows Vista and Windows XP
Got an older version of Windows? In that case, just use the default File Explorer / Windows Explorer facility in the taskbar. Under Computer, click on your phone’s name, then click Phone. Now just right click on the files you want to sync and copy, then paste into your phone’s Pictures or Videos folder.
Do you use one of Apple’s shiny computers? Don’t worry, your Nokia Lumia 520 will play just as nicely with it. Just open up the App Store and download the Windows Phone app for Mac. Open it and hook up your Nokia Lumia 520, and it should be recognised in the app. Now you can hit the Photos & Videos tab and select which items you want to copy across, followed by the Sync button.
