Own a Nokia Lumia 520 or any other of the Windows Phone 8 family and want to know how to change the device or Bluetooth name of your phone? It’s a lot easier than you think, all you need is a PC and your Nokia Lumia.
How to change the Device and Bluetooth name on a Nokia Lumia 520 was something we were asked about a short while ago and it wasn’t something we’d come across before. However, we’ve been doing a little research and found an incredibly easy way to do it.
By default, your Nokia Lumia will have a generic name, typically it’s called Windows Phone. To check this, go to Setting>About and you’ll see the Name of the device (Windows Phone) and the model below it (Nokia Lumia 520).
Now, this is all well and good if you don’t connect and share your phone with others. However, if you like to link up using Bluetooth, or simply want to give your phone its own unique name it’s incredibly easy.
All you need do is connect your Nokia Lumia to your laptop or PC running Windows and view the phone in the Windows Explorer screen of your computer.
Next, right click on the Windows Phone icon and from the list that pops up choose Properties. Here you will see in the top dialogue box the name of your Windows Phone device. Simply change this to whatever works best for you.
For this example we’ve called our Nokia Lumia 520 ‘The NokNok Mobile’ so you can see it’s changed. You’ll find that once you’ve entered it into this box it will have changed in the About page on your phone.
Now, once it’s been changed you’ll find this is the new default name for the device. Here you can see we’ve connected to our Nokia Lumia 920 using Bluetooth.
